Medim: Oil on canvas

About the artwork:
Bony Skull is a striking meditation on mortality, impermanence, and the raw structure beneath the surface. Andrew takes one of art’s most enduring symbols—the skull—and presents it with a distinctive blend of realism, surrealism, and dark humour.
The exposed anatomy creates a stark reminder of what ultimately lies beneath our identities and outward appearances. Yet there is something compelling and almost playful in the work’s presentation, transforming a familiar symbol of death into an intriguing study of form, texture, and existence.
Painted in oils using Andrew’s distinctive limited-palette approach, the work balances rich tonal depth with expressive detail, giving the piece a raw, tactile presence. Bony Skull is a one-of-one original artwork.
