About the artwork:
Red Lady #1 is a bold and captivating portrait exploring presence, character, and the expressive power of colour. Andrew places the intensity of the subject at the centre of the work, using rich red tones to create a striking visual presence.
Blending realism with expressive mark-making, the painting captures more than a likeness—it creates a sense of personality and intrigue. The restrained composition allows the subject to command attention, while subtle shifts in tone and texture reward a closer look.
Painted in oils using Andrew’s distinctive limited-palette approach, the work balances rich tonal depth with expressive detail, giving the piece a raw, tactile presence. Red Lady #1 is a one-of-one original artwork.
