About the artwork:
Base 1 is a quiet yet intriguing study of form, structure, and visual balance. Andrew strips the subject back to its essential elements, allowing shape, texture, and tonal relationships to take centre stage.
There is a sense of simplicity and restraint within the work, but beneath that simplicity is Andrew’s careful observation of form. The limited, understated palette gives the painting a contemplative quality, inviting the viewer to slow down and appreciate the subtle details that might otherwise be overlooked.
Painted in oils using Andrew’s distinctive limited-palette approach, the work balances rich tonal depth with expressive detail, giving the piece a raw, tactile presence. Base 1 is a one-of-one original artwork.
