About the artwork:
Owlymann is a surreal and characterful exploration of identity, transformation, and the curious space between human and animal. Andrew Swarbrick combines his fascination with anatomy and the natural world to create a figure that feels both familiar and wonderfully strange.
With its distinctive character and slightly uncanny presence, the work invites the viewer to question where one form ends, and another begins. There is humour in the transformation, but also a deeper suggestion of instinct, identity, and the different selves we carry beneath the surface.
Painted in oils using Andrew’s distinctive limited-palette approach, the piece combines rich tonal depth with intricate detail and a raw, tactile presence. Owlymann is a one-of-one original artwork.
