About the artwork:
Classic Selfie is a playful meeting of classical portraiture and contemporary self-expression. Andrew takes the familiar idea of the selfie and gives it a timeless twist, creating a work that reflects our enduring fascination with identity, appearance, and the way we choose to present ourselves.
Blending realism, symbolism, and dark humour, the painting invites the viewer to consider how much has really changed in the way we document ourselves. Beneath the contemporary reference is something distinctly human—the desire to capture a moment, create an image, and leave behind a version of ourselves.
Painted in oils using Andrew’s distinctive limited-palette approach, the work balances rich tonal depth with expressive detail, giving the piece a raw, tactile presence. Classic Selfie is a one-of-one original artwork.
