Medim: Oil on canvas

About the artwork:
Exploding Fish captures the energy and unpredictability of nature through a playful collision of realism and surrealism. Andrew takes an ordinary aquatic subject and transforms it into something wonderfully unexpected—dynamic, strange, and almost explosive in its visual impact.
The work embraces movement, transformation, and controlled chaos, encouraging the viewer to look beyond the familiar shape of the fish and experience it as a burst of colour, form, and energy. Andrew’s detailed oil technique gives the piece a tactile quality while the surreal concept brings a sense of dark humour and curiosity.
Painted in oils using Andrew’s distinctive limited-palette approach, the work balances rich tonal depth with expressive detail, giving the piece a raw, tactile presence. Exploding Fish is a one-of-one original artwork.
